Open letter to HE, Gov. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, the Executive Governor of Ondo State

Our Protest Against The Marginalization Of Muslims In The Nomination List of Commissioners

Your Excellency, we officially write you Sir again with all due respect using this medium as an umbrella body / apex council of all Muslim Youths in Ondo State to formally register our protest against the undue consideration for Muslims on your Nomination List of Commissioner Designates for your cabinet . The aforementioned list visibly contains names of fifteen (15)  honourable personalities  out of which only Alhaji Aminu Takuro is a Muslim. , This ,to us as Stakeholders in Islam in the state,is evidently disgusting, extremely disheartening, totally condemnable and unbiasedly unacceptable !

This treatment meted out to the entire Muslim Community in Ondo State with emphasis on this unfair and unjust nomination is indeed very disturbing ; and it particular , painfully undeserving. It's seen as an outright disregard for the Muslim Youths and the entire Muslims in  the state. It marks a  deliberate act of ingratitude to the entire Muslim Faithfuls in the Sunshine State considering the open declaration of solid solidarity and support by all critical  stakeholders in Islam especially members of Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations ( NACOMYO) and Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) before ,during and after your election as our Executive Governor .

We are ,as a community, your known partner in progress. We hail your administration's decision to appoint Commissioners; and in particular we are grateful to you for the appointment of Alh. Aminu Takuro who had previously served as Hon. Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs  in our Sunshine State. Nevertheless, it's imperative to inform you Sir through this means that the overall interests of Muslims in Ondo State cannot be addressed or championed by him alone in your cabinet. Our utmost quest is that Muslims in the state should not be marginalized by your administration again. Kindly use your good office to embrace and compensate us as we are still enduring the devastating blow of not having a single Muslim from the first to the seventh position in your cabinet .

We therefore plead with you, Your Excellency to genuinely consider Muslims in your great party, APC for juicy portfolios with the view of giving more consideration for the Muslims Community of Ondo State who are unarguably denied justice, equity and fairness. Your Excellency , you will recall that our support and solidarity for you and your administration are total  before, during and after the 2024 Governorship Election even in the face of stiff criticism that labelled us as a political ward under your party during the last governorship poll. Our conviction is that we always see you are a worthy ambassador of purposeful leadership and forthrightness who will be just even in the face of trials and criticism. We know you to be a great hero and quintessential leader with a large heart and listening ears who will prioritize the welfare of his people and the greatness of the state above his personal interests. We therefore consider this undue marginalization of our constituency (Islam ) as an oversight as no man is infallible.

It's therefore our collective decision as an umbrella body for Muslim Youths in the state that your administration should please give the Muslim Community in Ondo State their due recognition through the appointment of more Commissioners , at least 8, and other juicy portfolios like Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Chairmen of Boards and Parastatats, DGs of Agencies and Commissions,  and many others  for Federal Appointments and Empowerment. We had worked assiduously for this demand in the past, and this is the auspicious moment for resounding reward. It's pertinent to know Your Excellency that NACOMYO should be constantly  consulted just like our elders before any appointment is given to any Muslim. We do not  want any of your appointees  or anyone from the federal level to masquerade as Muslims. We know ourselves well in the state;and those distinguished individuals who have invested genuinely in your cause. We are not demanding for too much. One Muslim among fifteen Commissioner Nominees and others is heartbreaking as the decision is politically unpopular.

As Muslims, our faith teaches forthright and purposeful ambassadorship and quintessential mentorship. Responsible and responsive leadership remains the fulcrum of good administration of men and management of resources. These sterling attributes are what Alh. Aminu Takuro, one of the Commissioner Designates has consistently brought to good leadership in the state in his previous privileged positions as a public officer. We are convinced also beyond all clouds of doubts that he will always do us proud;  so are the other capable and able Muslims who have toiled with you, Your Excellency to bring your great party , APC to the front burner of politics in the state if appointed. We know that uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. Our prayer is that Allah (S.A.W) will see you through,  guide and lead you as you steer the affairs of our Sunshine State with fairness .

Your Excellency, NACOMYO, Ondo State has made frantic efforts to interface with you severally to discuss critical matters that borders on critical state affairs and welfare of Muslim Faithfuls in the state but all to no avail . We are eager to hear from you Sir  on this request to provide lasting solutions to the agitations of the Muslim community. We shall continue to support you Sir and your administration as pledged knowing that it is our AMANA with Allah. Neverthel76ess, our interest as a community is the overall growth and progress of our Sunshine State and in particular the corporate welfare of all Muslim Ummah in the State.

Thank you in advance Your Excellency as we know that you will do us proud as always by giving us more opportunities as Muslims in your administration..
